Hacking….. Ethical Or Unethical?

Computer hacking is considered both unethical and a serious crime. Hacking is done by a hacker and defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as a person who illegally gets access to computers in order to get information without permission and cause damages to people. Hackers hacked computers for several reasons.

First, they hacked to steal information. Hacking of computers resulted in the loss or deletion of some important data or information.  It also creates threats to personal privacy because hackers have access to one’s computer then they can see everything including important and confidential information like email account, and facebook account etc. Computer hacking can also victimized websites of government agency and small businesses. They also hacked whenever they want to revenge to their enemies.

Not all the time hacking is bad. There are also times that it is good especially in improving the security systems of an organization. Bad hackers destroy or steal data and information for their own benefit. On the other hand, organizations hired some hackers to hack their system to determine whether it can withstand against hacking and further improve the security features of the systems. Organizations are installing security systems to protect and keep confidential information from hackers.

It is truly unethical and grave crime for one to hack computers without permission or authorization of the organization. Nevertheless, it cannot be considered unethical if it was done with the consent of the organization. Hacking gives the opportunity for an organization to improve, create a newer, better and stronger system against bad hackers whose intentions is to destroy organization’s system.

Hacking is one of the issues that needs solution before it gets worst. As far as I am concerned, I believed that it must be stopped if it is used for personal benefits and must be continued for the good of the organization.

The Future Trends in the Workplace

We are living in a rapidly changing world where access to the information is one of the necessity of the community .Information is power and indeed vital to every organization. Organization nowadays tries to adapt the changes posed by technologies. The acceptance of change in the organization will be one of their strategies to eliminate the number of employees they have to reduce cost. As far as I’m concerned, employment will be affected by the advancement in technology.

Technology poses an opportunity and threat to stakeholders. Opportunity for companies because they can improve their effectiveness, efficiency and productiveness using the different information system. On the other hand the increasing numbers of information systems like the decision support system poses a threat to newly graduates because organization will hire talented, expert and skilled people with knowledge in information technology. With the aid of information technology works in the offices are now automated and there is a lesser need for organization to hire.

Aside from the different information system it is also expected in the future that robots will replace humans in the workplace. However given the fact that technology can bring benefits it has also drawback  because it poses a threat to humans. There is also possibility that jobs will be eliminated because everything is programmed in the computer. Organizational coordination, effectiveness and improved decision making are the reasons why organizations are adapting changes in technology. Because of this employees will have to be retrained to take on new jobs and responsibilities.

There is nothing wrong to adapt with these changes but we should keep in mind that even though technological improvements have benefits it also poses a threat or a problem .The question is are we ready to face for these changes? The answer lies in our hands.

Conventional Services Vs.Modern Services

The advent of technology is one of the greatest discovery man has ever contributed. Through the years, improvement in technology changed the way how business is done. The birth of computers and information technology touched every aspect of human life. The impact of information technology is inevitable. It does not only change lives but also revolutionized the world of business. Because we are living in a modern world, business models are also changing as the time passed by. Due to high speed broadband connections the following are the services that changed already.

First, the introduction of e-commerce will replace the traditional buying habits of consumer. Instead of going to malls, consumers can simply surf the internet and click the products they want to buy from websites like Amazon and Ebay.

Computers are playing a big role in offices nowadays .It makes work more easy and convenient compared to the traditional typewriters that was used before .Where ever you go  you can see computers  not just in government and private offices but also in every homes.

Computers cannot exist without hardware and software. Hardware is the physical components of computers while the software refers to the instructions that tell the computer what to do. Software is important because it makes work easy and convenient .There are two major categories of software and these are the systems software which is a set of program that controls the computer hardware and acts as interface with application software and includes the operating system and the utility programs while on the other hand, application software is a software that interacts with the system software and it performs common task like creating and formatting text documents, performing calculations and managing information. This kind of software includes proprietary and open source software.

Proprietary  software  is  a software  developed , owned and sold by a single company while open source is a software that can be developed by many programmers. In my opinion, open source software will proliferate because of the following reasons .First, many government offices including national ,local and even private offices are now switching off to open source software because they can save a lot of money  by increasing revenue and reducing cost .Second it can improve workers productivity and provide better customer service. Lastly, this kind of software has less bugs or defects because programmers review the code and it is cheaper than entering an agreement for licensing in proprietary  software .

Given all the reasons, there is no doubt that open source system will proliferate sooner or later.

The advent of technology changed the manner how people should live .As the years passed by , technology evolved because of people’s desire  to have a convenient life .Every year we can see in televisions ,newspapers ,and in the internet the different products that made with the aid of technology. People even call them gadget or devices .

People use the term gadget and device synonymously but the question here is what is the difference between the two of them. Gadget is a device usually used for entertainment and pleasure while device is that it is a tool or instrument that is used in workplace in order to do the job effectively and efficiently. Sometimes people are confused between gadget and device but the only the distinction between them is that a gadget is a device and a device is not a gadget.

Examples of devices used in the workplace are the input and output devices. These input devices are machines or apparatuses that are used to enter data needed to produce information and the devices under this group includes keyboard , mouse, and the different scanners. Also in some businesses they also used source data input devices, devices wherein they copy the data from the source like bar code or magnetic characteristics and it does not need human intervention. On the other hand gadgets are devices not necessary to people but because of their desire to have it they buy it .Examples of gadgets are the iPods, spy gadgets and smart phones.

Devices and gadgets are the products of the creative imagination of man with the aid of technology. These devices are important to an individual and to the business organization because of the benefits they could get and all these things will make life here on earth convenient and easy.

Factories nowadays are using this what we call Supply Chain Management to coordinate the activities in order that shipment of goods and services will be delivered to retailers and consumers are done efficiently and effectively .However SCM reduces inventory levels ,optimize production ,increase output ,decrease manufacturing time and reduce overall cost. Even though SCM  have benefits  there are also difficulties in managing it because there is a need to coordinate several business transactions in different countries and time zone.

RFID consist of electronic tags that contain information about an item and it has also tag readers that can emit signal to activate the tag ,read the data and it is convenient for factories to use because there’s no need of scanning instead it can be read faster than barcodes.

So how does RFID works in various stages of supply chain? First in planning it help companies and suppliers by sharing data in needed in replenishment of stock. The tags can store more accurate data than barcodes and there is less human error .Second, in receiving  it eliminates the need to open and count containers or boxes while in storage it reduces cost and it eliminates the need for checking whether there is stock or not.  Third, in manufacturing it accelerates the packaging of goods and services and lastly in delivery it helps track shipments because of GPS and satellite communication devices. In addition ,it reduces losses brought about by spoilage by giving signal which packages  are near to expire  so that retailers can sell them as soon as possible and it is easy for suppliers to trace transactions about payment and balances of retailers.

Truly RFID  have lots of benefits and business organizations  who are interested in investing in this kind of technology will surely meet the demands and expectations of both the consumer and supplier.

             Strategic information system is widely used nowadays because of the benefit it brings to the business organization and implementation of SIS can neither benefit nor harm customers and competitors.In my own opinion,SIS can benefit and harm customers as well as the competitors.The customer can gain benefit from SIS when there is strategic alliances between two companies like in the case of airline companies ,they can reduce the cost of tickets so customers will have to pay a lower price for the ticket and because of this customers will establish loyalty and will continue to patronize the service the company is offering.Those competitors who do not have this SIS will likely to have lesser customers as the time passed by.Aside from the benefits that it could give there are also disadvantages  to customers especially when they switch off to another product ,they will have to pay for the services or products they have already used before they can transfer to another product.The system can also bring threats to smaller businesses because if their competitors have the SIS,they can lock in customers and suppliers.Those companies who don’t have this system will likely to lose the competition in a wider market.   

        The presence of SIS is indeed vital for it helps the company run business processes. The main reason why companies engaged in SIS is to make innovations and to gain competitive advantages .In business, competition is inevitable so organization must seek ways how to stand out in the market.               The advent of technology in our society changed the nature and structure of how commerce is done.The way how  commerce was done before was very different to how it is done today.With the aid of modern computers ,e- commerce was born which led people to shop online rather than to go in shopping malls and grocery stores.

                Traditional commerce is where people go to stores to purchase a product while web based commerce people shop online.In traditional commerce customers can test the product before purchasing it.Unlike in web based where transaction is done online ,transactions in traditional  commerce are done manually.Customers without internet access can go to shopping malls anytime they want.Whats good about traditional commerce is that customers can bring immediately the product they purchased while in the web based they have to wait for the product to be delivered and lastly there is a direct interaction between customers and the sellers.

               Web based  commerce differs from the traditional because of the convenience it gives to the customers.Customers can save time, effort and energy because in just a click of the mouse they can buy and put their orders anytime they want.Online shopping offers also 24/7 operation and there’s no need to fall in line.Customers also  have the opportunity to reach for a wider market.Aside from conveniences it has also bad sides like when the product being delivered has a defect the customer has no option but to return it to the online dealer.

               After all,I prefer traditional than web based commerce because i can test the product before purchasing it to ensure that it has no defect.

       The impacts of information technology nowadays are profound and as the world continue to develop more technology will emerge.In my case as a student,information technology really help me a lot in many ways.First of all through information technology ,it is easier for me to look for information because there are lots of journals and researches available in the internet.

        Second,information technology enables me to communicate with my teachers and classmates effectively when i have questions to be asked regarding the subject matter and lastly information technology gave rise to the social networking sites such as Facebook, twitter and Instagram wherein i can communicate to my friends,discover and meet new personalities and to know also some news and updates happening around the globe.

          With the rise of information technology my life as a student  became easier and comfortable and to summarize it all,information technology speeds up educational process.
